Yes, wonderful neighbors to share their talents with all of us so freely. We do love our bald eagles, don't we? What a great place to live!

Michelle, thank you. Yes, sometimes the raw and real have to be explored. We think we know it all, but it's just a small portion. We are hoping our story gets out there, to help other people work through their grief and anger and know they're not alone. I've had wonderful private emails from people recounting their own stories, sad stories of loss, wonderful stories of transformation from grief. Yes, write your story. In your amazing work with animal hospice, you know what people face and are a calm loving center of support for them. And we are for you, too, now, as you face it once again. We're in it together!

Thank you, Diane! Yes that has been a big shock to us, just another of life's lessons for me to pay attention. We appreciate her long years of dedication to us and understand that other people have opinions. Bottom line: we and our animals decide what happens. We look outside for advice and then support. We value yours!

Robin, I'm so sorry to hear about Murphy, and how awful that your long time vet reacted like that at a time you needed her support. I admire you so much for speaking about this complicated and charged subject.

Robyn,
You and Murphy have quite the saga to tell us all. Good for you, your Real Life Crappy Diary is personal and frank - we are confronted with crappy choices, aren't we? It's how well we handle the bumps in the road of grief along the way. As one who has been down the crappy choice road before, and as you know, "here we go again", I really appreciate you publishing your journal because we ALL learn from it! You are an inspiration, friend. I have been journalling in the shadows, not wanting to reveal that intimate side to too many people. But as you point out, the support we can get from others in our community can provide us with strength at the same time, and so, maybe it's worth it. I will look forward to future entries in your Diary and perchance, embark upon mine too! xo M

If it were me, I would clean out that freezer and buy LOTS of ground turkey for the girl. For me, it would be both an affirmation for Murphy and a defiant move. But three is good, too. Much love to you and that precious girl of yours. I am here if you need someone to talk to.

Carolyn, thanks for sharing. A difficult thing to have in common. For us it has become honoring my dog's choice to be healthy. She doesn't want the trauma of surgery. Other animals choose differently. My good thoughts to you on sharing such a difficult journey with your dog. What a lucky dog, to have such a caring human!
